Vices are Structurally Composed of 3 Parts:
Body: It is the fixed part of the vice, with a screw socket and a fixed clamping surface to hold the material to be clamped.
Screw Part: It consists of a screw fitting into the screw hole on the fixed body and moving the movable clamping piece that will hold the item to be clamped.
Screw Handle or Clamping Handle: It is the part often attached to the screw, used for turning the screw. In vices, clamping occurs by rotating the screw part with the screw handle (vice handle) or another system. As a result of each full rotation of the screw, the screw advances by one screw pitch, clamping the secured piece. Greater clamping occurs depending on the length of the screw handle and the force of the person turning it.
The reason the vice does not loosen after clamping is due to the large frictional force between the screw and the screw socket.
